English Heritage has commissioned long-term Arkwood collaborators Erect Architects to develop a new water play facility for Eltham Palace. The project will attract larger and more diverse audiences to this iconic Grade 1 listed site.
English Heritage has invited Arkwood to assess the impact of the proposed development on the historic landscape fabric and to consider how the play facility can be integrated into the site’s network of historic paths.
In parallel, Arkwood have been instructed to develop proposals for new parking capacity and to consider how the impact of this on Metropolitan Open Land can be managed.
Arkwood will combine these work elements into an over-arching spatial masterplan that sets the proposed play facility into a site-wide analysis of spatial organisation and circulation
