Jon Sheaff and Associates have joined forces with sports strategy specialist SLC to deliver a new Sports and Physical Activity Strategy for Ebbsfleet.
The strategy is one of several strands of work being commissioned by the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation in advance of a submission to government for funding for the period 2020 – 2026 as part of the government’s comprehensive spending review.
JSA’s will review current health inequalities across the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation area and identify key health inequality issues that might inform strategy for the future provision of sports and active lifestyle services and infrastructure.
In parallel, JSA will undertake an assessment of landscape character across the whole of the Ebbsfleet masterplan area and identify opportunities for landscape – based interventions that will support more traditional sports and physical activity offers.
JSA will reference national and international best practice case studies to propose ways in which the execution of the Ebbsfleet masterplan might encourage greater use of and engagement with landscape and the natural environment to deliver a range of positive wellbeing outcomes.
JSA Executive Director Claire Browne commented ‘we are delighted to be working in partnership with SLC to develop an important piece of landscape strategy work for Ebbsfleet. We will build on existing experience of assessing the value of health benefits accruing from the use of open space assets to enrich the approach to green infrastructure design for this exciting new town project’.
